Getting The Most Out of Your Social Media

Getting The Most Out of Your Social Media

Social media can be a real beast to take on, but in today’s world is completely necessary. However, it is not necessary to be on every platform. Each social platform has unique characteristics, audiences, and shine in different ways. Whichever platform(s) your business is on – here are 3 things to keep in mind to get the most out of your social media marketing.

1) WHICHEVER YOU USE, COMMIT & DO IT WELL

There’s two parts to this. 1) Have a plan. Having goals and a strategy to guide your content will make sure that with everything you do there’s a purpose and will help keep you on track. 2) Make sure you commit your time to maximizing the platforms. Each platform delivers content and is interacted with in a particular way. Don’t just mass post a message through your channels, and actually take the time to optimize it for each platform. Is doing this more than you can take on? Maybe it’s time to reevaluate where your presence pays off best and where your audience spends the most of their time, and focus there. Just starting out? It’s ok to just pick one or two platforms that make sense to start building until you’re ready to take on more.

2) SOCIAL MEDIA EXISTS TO BE SOCIAL

Don’t just write your content, set it, and forget it. Social media’s point is to be social. Make sure you’re interacting with people by following people who you would like to follow you, commenting on and liking users content, and most importantly not ignoring your followers who are commenting and messaging you. Doing this will help new people discover your account and build actual relationships with people, so take the time to interact and be social.

3) LET YOUR BRAND’S VOICE SHINE THROUGH

Social media lends itself to being fun, and to shift from being a company to a more human thing with a personality. This comes from how you engage with people in #2, but also in what you post. Define what your brand voice is like and let loose. Think of your brand like a person and their personality traits. Are you serious and dry? That’s ok, let that dry humor out of its cage. How about bubbly and infectiously happy? Let your posts and comments be bubbly and infectiously happy too.
