Tip Tuesdays Ask an Expert: “Do I Need a Blog On My Website?”

This is such a great question! You may have heard that blogging is dead in the age of Tick Tock, Youtube, and Instagram experts. We’re here to tell you that this simply isn’t the case! Blogging is still a powerful way to gain traffic to your website, build trust with your audience, and ultimately increase sales for your business. However, depending on your specific goals, blogging may or may not be the best approach to educating your audience. We’ll break down some of the pros and cons of blogging, and help you decide if it’s right for your business!

Pros:

Improves SEO (Search Engine Optimization) so your website is more likely to show up in Google searches, and get your business noticed!

Despite what you may have heard, people are still using google. In fact, according to Google, they’re receiving approximately 40,000 Google search queries per second! Ranking high in google searches guarantees that your site will get traffic, improving the likelihood that your business will be noticed.

Demonstrates Expertise

Blogging is a great way to show your audience that you know your stuff. You can address common questions from your customers and help them to get the most out of your products and/or services. By providing advice to your customers that works, you’re building trust. People are more likely to make purchases from brands they trust!

Builds Awareness Around Your Business’s Products and Services

When it comes to figuring out your products and services, the last thing you want is for your audience to go looking elsewhere for answers. Blogging is a great way to build a body of resources for your audience to address all of their concerns and questions when it comes to your offers. Your website can serve as a customer service associate that works round-the-clock to make sure your audience has access to the information they need!

Cons:

It Requires Consistency

In order for blogging to be really effective, it needs to be done consistently. If you want people to continue to visit your site and seek help from your business, you need to consistently provide new content. Whether you outsource your blog or do it yourself, make sure that you’re adding new content on a monthly, if not weekly basis.

Often Times It’s A Long Game

Blogging can be highly effective, but unlike a viral tick-tock video, a single blog isn’t as likely to put your business on the map. Instead, it requires effort over time, to grow awareness and build trust.

Blogging is a Skill & it Needs to be Done Well to be Effective

In order to rank high on google and build trust with your audience, your blog needs to be relevant, incorporate keywords and concepts, and be well written. If writing isn’t your strong suit, it may be wise to consider outsourcing your blog. Especially if you’re looking to drive sales from your blog, you will want to hire an expert who can incorporate marketing strategies and effective CTA’s (Calls To Action), to get your audience to click that purchase button!
